Now that Christmas is over and we’re on the brink of a New Year, it’s a good time to reflect on how we’ve handled the holidays. Moms are so busy to begin with, and no doubt you’re like me with a lot on your plate already. Did you offer to do more than you had time for? Did you feel you had to accomplish everything for the perfect holiday? And now that it’s winding down, are you able to stop or do you just keep on pushing, using that momentum to plunge into another tiring and overloaded year? These days prescription medications seem to be a big answer, one that can eventually lead to a whole boatload of other issues. If not meds, then we tend to turn to other “solutions” oftentimes equally unhealthy. But Debbie Mandel leads readers through a greater understanding of what our stress is and why we use it. She has healthier solutions, such as taking a good look at ourselves, how we treat our time, our bodies, and our thoughts. Her approach to stress as an addiction is, I think, dead on. I have learned a great deal from this book, and I know you will too.
