I have a bit of a purse problem; that is, I often have difficulty finding something that works for me.  Most handbags in style the last several years are very large and cumbersome, and my tendency is to overload.  The end result is a sore shoulder, aching back, and lots of excess stuff I don’t need with me anyway.  I also like being hands-free because I usually have an active 3-year-old with me, and as we moms all know, you need at least one hand free for reaching after running children.  But it’s not all about practicality – I like a handbag to look nice!  I want something fashionable without being too whacked out; for everyday use, it’s gotta match my varied wardrobe.  Lately I’ve been carrying an amykathryn Plumeria handbag, and I’ve got to tell you it’s been a freeing – and fashionable – experience!

Amykathryn bags are all designed by Amy Hall, and her work gets a lot of attention.  They’re owned by such celebrities as Pink, Hillary Duff, Selma Blair, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Leann Rimes.  I can certainly see why!  All of the special designed fabrics are hand printed and based on inspiration that designer Amy Hall has gathered from her experiences in Africa as a child.  The fabrics are all vegan, with faux suede and faux leather, and the construction is sturdy and practical.  For instance, my Plumeria has pockets inside and out that are very easy to get to.  The cross-body design means I can be totally hands-free, and the adjustable strap gives me a comfortable fit.  The Plumeria is a smaller bag, so I don’t overload it.  But it’s plenty long and roomy enough to fit my wallet/checkbook, a diaper, a pen, my lip balm, and a few other essentials.  For me, it’s been a great bag for everyday use, and I’m still able to dress things up a bit and wear it with skirts and dresses.
