I’ve tried all sorts of things made out of recycled materials. It’s always exciting to find out how different companies have come up with new uses for items that would otherwise add to our landfills. I have been rather curious about clothing made out of recycled plastic, so when be present asked if I’d like to take a look at their Renew Raglan Sleeve Tunic made out of a blend of organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles, I just had to take a look.
Each shirt is made of 3 to 5 plastic bottles; could it possibly be comfortable? I’ve become quite a cotton snob, preferring the comfort of organic cotton. While the shirt does contain 50% organic cotton, what would that other 50% plastic bottle do? Surprisingly, the shirt is unbelievably comfortable! To me, it feels no different than cotton, and it wears as well too. The shirt comes in 5 colors, and mine is in a lovely blue teal. The cut is unique in that it has a scoop neck and a thick waistband that fits snuggly across the hips. The sleeves are also snugger below the elbows, giving it a hip style that I’ve found works well on its own or in layers. You can bunch the bottom of the shirt up over the hips or pull it down for a longer, lean look.
Overall I’m really impressed with the blend of recycled and organic fabric, and there’s no doubt I’d be willing to go with recycled fabrics again in the future. I’m glad I had the chance to give this shirt a try. One of you will get to try too! That’s because be present is giving away one Women’s Renew Raglan Sleeve Tunic to one dkM reader! ($39 retail)
