What does dkMommy do when she’s not drying herbs, reviewing eco products, and fighting toy making injustices? Well, some days she curls up on the couch with one very special toddler and watches a DVD. We don’t really watch much television, so we tend to collect a few special DVD’s for my son to enjoy. They’re commercial-free, we know exactly what we’re getting, and the good ones get several viewings. Since my son is absolutely in love with dogs, I was excited to give Beethoven’s latest flick a try.
Beethoven’s Big Break comes out on DVD December 26th, and it’s never been in theaters, so this is all new furry footage. As with all the Beethoven flicks, it’s loaded with critters, slapstick humor, and plenty of Beethoven (the composer) musical references. Beethoven finds himself an up-and-coming movie star when he’s discovered by a Hollywood producer. Moises Arias (Rico from Hannah Montana) is as cute as can be as the lead role – uh – beside the other hairier lead role, of course, and my son got a big kick out of watching what to him must look like the largest dog in existence. For me, it’s a trip down memory lane of sorts. I grew up with a St. Bernard mix, so one look in those big brown eyes and I simply melt with nostalgia and the urge to hug a dog larger than I am.
Universal Studios would like to give one of you a copy of Beethoven’s Big Break ($29.98 retail). How can you win? As usual there are several ways to enter, but today’s comment will be a little different so read on!

I never had a dog when I was a child. I got my first dog when I was in my early 20s. He is still with us, but is extremely elderly. I remember the first time I watched my Beagle puppy drink water. His ears were so big that they dipped into the water when he leaned over to drink.

Kind of a silly one, but the day our dog went with me to feed the chickens and went throught the little door they had to get outside the building.
My fave memory is kind of gross. We were walking our Rotweiler and this one dog kept barking at him and trying to jump his fence to get to him. My dog stayed calm the whole time. We got to the end of that fence with that dog still going crazy, and my dog hicked his leg, and peed right on that dog! Kinda gross, but it was like he was telling him to just shut up!!

The day we brought our newborn son home, our dog guarded our son to no end. He would would only let my husband or myself near him and would try to block anybody else. He’s still very protective over our kids.
My dog Bud used to love to ride in the car and when we would go through the drive through we would buy him a cheese burger too. He was so cute! Thanks!
we used to dress my dog buddy up and take pictures. he loved it. thanks!
My dogs of 13 years both recently died this summer, brother and sister, they were my best friends
My german shepard mix doggie as a child was my everything! She protected me and in return I spoiled her.
The best dog I ever had was a Mother/Daughter set of Shar-Pei, Shasta and Tornado. They were so loving and protective of my daughter. They were wonderful. They died a few years ago, one year apart from each other. Shasta was 12 and Tornado was 10.

My favorite dog memory is of my Watson, who ate a bowl full of Hershey kisses that were on a coffee table…the best part is when we got home we found all the little wrappers on the floor that he had spit out. It’s a wonder after eating all the chocolate that he didn’t get really sick!

My favorite dog memory is when I was about 8 or 9 years old and riding my bike. This big white hairy dog was out in front of his owners house and started barking at me. I was convinced that it was going to chase me down and eat me, so I rode as fast as I could home. I just laugh about it now!

Back when I was a kid there were no rules for dogs biting and taking care of and our dog was vicious as hell and bit like nuts, but for some reason we still loved him even though he had an anger maagement problem

My favorite dog died when I was about 11. He would go with me everywhere. Follow me on my bike and around the yard. It was very sad when he died but I was glad that I had quite a few years of memories to keep with me.

I’m a Mr. Mom, but none the less my two sons would really like this movie!
And my favorite dog of all time is the German Shepard from the novel “All the Days were Summer”. He really protected that kid.
Our St. Bernard, Brandy, was a riot. She had a personality that will never be duplicated! I had a terrible time breaking her of being a lap dog as she grew from puppyhood to an adult. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway! Happy Holidays to One and All!!!!
My dog memory is of my old friend Cleo, who I had for 16 yrs,an she just passed away this fall,I miss my friend terribly, she was a faithful member of the family,I thought I was over it until writing this an tears fall, but I will honor her by saying she never left my side an slept by my side of the bed everynight, she sat by my feet when I was sitting an walked beside me when I was outside always protective of me around strangers ,she had beautiful big brown eyes that always looked at me with love,oh man,I miss her so much,But I appriciate the opportunity to talk about her even if it hurt to do so,thanks

My parents have always loved unusual dog names…we had GoKart, Chainsaw, Porkchop, Buzzsaw, and Harley Davidson growing up. I now have a 14 year old Jack Russell mix (Vegas) who is the most loyal dog ever, and an 8 yr. old Jack Russell-Fox Terrier mix (Bailey) that is the funniest dog I have ever seen in my life. We had a huge mutt named Banjo that died last year…he used to catch birds out of the air! We have always had dogs, and I just can’t imagine life without them! thanks
