What does dkMommy do when she’s not drying herbs, reviewing eco products, and fighting toy making injustices? Well, some days she curls up on the couch with one very special toddler and watches a DVD. We don’t really watch much television, so we tend to collect a few special DVD’s for my son to enjoy. They’re commercial-free, we know exactly what we’re getting, and the good ones get several viewings. Since my son is absolutely in love with dogs, I was excited to give Beethoven’s latest flick a try.
Beethoven’s Big Break comes out on DVD December 26th, and it’s never been in theaters, so this is all new furry footage. As with all the Beethoven flicks, it’s loaded with critters, slapstick humor, and plenty of Beethoven (the composer) musical references. Beethoven finds himself an up-and-coming movie star when he’s discovered by a Hollywood producer. Moises Arias (Rico from Hannah Montana) is as cute as can be as the lead role – uh – beside the other hairier lead role, of course, and my son got a big kick out of watching what to him must look like the largest dog in existence. For me, it’s a trip down memory lane of sorts. I grew up with a St. Bernard mix, so one look in those big brown eyes and I simply melt with nostalgia and the urge to hug a dog larger than I am.
Universal Studios would like to give one of you a copy of Beethoven’s Big Break ($29.98 retail). How can you win? As usual there are several ways to enter, but today’s comment will be a little different so read on!
1.) Not all dogs are Beethoven famous. Leave me a comment sharing your favorite dog memory with me. Who was your childhood buddy? Or is your best dog in your home right now? If I cannot contact the winner, you might be chosen instead based on your comment.

I grew up with a great dog. I got her as puppy when I was still a baby. She died when I was 17.
My favorite little guy lives in the house with us now. He is a Shih Tzu, and extremely spoiled. (My husband is jealous I just know he is.) One time when we took him to the groomer’s he strained a muscle in his hind legs. He was experiencing muscle spasms as he walked across each room. I put pillows ever so many feet so he could rest while walking from room to room. So not to pull or aggravate his muscle even more. The vet laughed at me when I told him this. Oh well, like I said he is spoiled did I mention he has his own plastic spoon – and is fed by spoon? Ha,ha…

Our pet Muffin was a member of our family for 18 years we miss her
Our # 1 dog is Charlie, our 11 year old West Highland White Terrier. He is the most loyal canine companion we have ever owned. When I wear a very long calf-length or longer skirt, here’s what Charlie does. He very gently takes hold of a piece of the skirt hem as we walk along together. I guess that’s sort of like “holding hands” with me as we walk along. He’s spontaneously done that for years! It always make me smile!

We found a terrapin in the yard when we had a puppy. He had tucked inside his shell when we picked him up. We placed him on the floor. The puppy sniffed at this odd thing and then ignored it. Of course, the terrapin sticks his head out after a while much to the suprise of the puppy. She had a barking fit. He went back in his shell. She would sniff, paw, and bark at the shell. Somehow, she turned him upside down and sent him spinning across the floor. We got this all on video. (The terrapin was offended but not harmed and released after she tired of him.)
When i was younger the neighbor had a dog that i would visit and play with daily. It was as though he was my dog. I was heart broken when i came home from school and he was gone. Someone had poisoned him. He had died while i was gone.

I subscribe, Hope to win. Thanks for another great contest.
I have a tendancy to “lecture” so when I was telling my son off when he was very young he would stick his diapered bottom at me and say “just spank me mom and get it over with” , My son had a Dingo and one of his favorite activitys was to pull down my washing from the clothesline. One day while I was hanging the laundry I was telling the dog off and warning him not to pull down my clean sheets. Darned if the silly pup didn’t turn around, stick his bottom in the air and look back at me as if to say ” Just spank me and get it over with” LOL

Razzle my old english sheepdog use to make everyday funny. One of the cutest was the fact he would chase around here with his rubber tire in his mouth and think he was so mean sounding as he came over and pushed in on your shoulder to hug you.
We had a blind puppy and he always protected his sister and took the same path, from the driveway, to the sidewalk and then onto the grass to get to the backyard.
Another brilliant entry! : ))) Thanks again! : )))
