One of my favorite parts of reviewing green and responsible companies and their products is learning about some of the amazing organizations they support. Born on Earth has their sights set on aiding an organization called Trees for the Future. You see, every time you buy a tee shirt from Born on Earth, they in turn plant a tree through this organization. “Buy a tee, plant a tree.” I’ve heard of these sorts of setups before, but honestly I envisioned some measly seedling being slapped in the ground and left to its own defenses, never to be heard of again. But when I watched the video explaining how Trees for a Future operated, I suddenly understood Born on Earth’s enthusiasm for the program. (I’ve added the video to the bottom of this post – fascinating! Please give it a look after entering the giveaway.)
Not only does Born on Earth support a great and worthy cause, they produce a wonderful product. Their kids’ tees are made of 100% organic cotton and dyed with water-based inks. Tags, packaging, shipping materials – all made of recycled products. Basing their production in the USA adds even more to the appeal of this company. And the tees? Absolutely adorable! My son has been sporting the “Nature Rocks” tee you see pictured in the upper left. The material has a subtle tie dye background, and the image of a guitar sprouting into a tree gives a fantastic message. Yes, nature rocks. And that’s why it’s so important to protect it.
When you buy one of these tees, Born on Earth sees to it that Trees for the Future plants a tree in a country whose people need the natural resources to survive. The trees provide communities with protection, industry, food, and a way of self-sustaining that I never would have imagined possible. You’ll be proud to own one of these shirt knowing that indeed you did make a difference!
