Pain Relief is Easy with this Infrared Gem
Most of us don’t want to spend our lives on various prescription medications for pain relief. The cost, both to the bank account and to our health, can be pretty heavy. For most of my life I’ve had back pain, so it’s no wonder this is an area where I spend a lot of time looking into alternative therapies. I see a chiropractor regularly, but in between visits I often have pain that needs dealing with, and I’m not one to reach for a bottle of pills. Lately I’ve been testing Brookstone’s Pain Relief Wand to see how it deals with my back issues.
The Pain Relief Wand works with infrared light that penetrates deeper than a heating pad, helping to ease pain and swelling. The usage is simple: Plug it in, turn it on, and hold it over the affected area until you’ve obtained relief. I was particularly interested in trying this on my lower back, the real problem area for me. At first I wasn’t sure how long to use it, as the instructions state that different people require different amounts of time, but I found that if I moved the wand slowly around my entire lower back for about 15 to 20 minutes, the pain would go. Some days require more and others less, but I have noticed that after using the wand, I have better mobility with little to no pain. Since my lower back is often stiff and sore in the morning, even waking me up in the wee hours, I began using the wand right before bed. I stopped being awakened in the night with the discomfort, and I noticed a great reduction in morning pain and an increase in my mobility.
I also tried the Pain Relief Wand on my middle back, another trigger spot for me. While my problems in this area are less, they are still a bother after sitting at a computer all day long! Again, the wand worked very well here, although I do wish the handle was a little longer. That middle of the back area is always tough to reach, especially when you’re stiff, but I did manage to reach the area by propping it between me and the couch, or by handing the wand to someone else and saying, “Here, hold this a minute.” Since the result was always a relieved back, it has been worth the effort.
Overall the product is more effective than I’d imagined, and I’m very happy with the results. I use it almost every day and on the days I don’t, I can certainly tell. It beats popping pain meds that don’t always work anyway, and I find the warmth and relief it provides the aching muscles to be more safe and soothing than any prescription and its side effects.

Well, if I could afford the $2,995 price that, it would definitely be the OSIM uHarmony Massage Chair. It’s wonderful because it has 6 programmed types of massages that will relax your whole body, and it has the needed heat. Now I don’t think I’d be too interested in the Synchronized music massaged that you can do with your own music, but I think others in my family might.
I have an idea for you on the Brookstone Pain Relief Wand in this giveaway. See if you could purchase a piece of PVC piping that the wand could slip into, and the cord/plug could get through, and tape around it with a strong tape at the top. It could work as an extension if you cut the PVC piping ahead of time to the length you’d need it to help you be able to reach those spots of the back. In my case my constant pain is between my shoulders and slightly mid to right and upper right back. I’ve been living with this for over ten years now, as well as many other neuralgias, and muscle pains related to a genetic nerve disorder, which the Doctor’s don’t even have a name for. They just call it my genetic nerve disorder, which also caused my Achalasia and a resulting surgery that I had to have for it, so I wouldn’t choke to death.
I have extreme empathy and sympathy for any one going through chronic pain, and I agree about the pain meds. There are so many side effects related to so many meds. I’ve tried various herbals too, but it’s like they help for a while, but the body gets used to them and there effectiveness wanes. Prescription meds help the best, but I really try to stay away from them because I don’t want to get addicted.
Good luck to all.
I’m subscribed via your email mailing list. Hey I see on your left hand column an amazon.com ad, and I just wanted to add that the Excalibur that they have listed is fantastic. I love my Excalibur Food Dehydrator. Don’t get the Ronco Food Dehydrator, the food drippings drip down on to their heating element and it stinks and is harder than anything to clean; my personal experience. The elements then end up not lasting.
Yet with the Excalibur the heating elements/fans are to the back, so the dripping that drip down as the food dehydrates doesn’t burn or stink. Just a little info for anyone thinking about getting a Food Dehydrator.
Face book fan here, and I left a message today under favorite herbal remedy. It was for a sore throat.
I am always cold, so I’d love to try the Women’s Softshell Heated Jacket. Mmmmm warmness!! Thanks!

Just what I need for my aching shoulders
The BellaSonnaBed by Tempur-Pedic Mattress & Foundation Set would be a *DREAM* come true for my back. 3 children and 8 spinals later, chronic lower back pain plagues me. The Brookstone pain relief wand could surely aid in this though! I also suffer from daily migranes, not sure if it is effective in helping with this pain. worth a try
I could really use a TempurPedic mattress topper. I have chronic lower back pain, so this would be a great relief in my life. I would also definitely love the pain relief wand.
N*A*P comfy — first page I saw. It’s always chilly in our house (on purpose to save energy) and this looks like just the ticket for being warm and toasty.
would luv it

I like the OSIM uSqueez Warm Foot & Calf Massager, as a runner, this could alleviate some of the aches and pains I get.
I like this – I have a weird mid/upper back thing that is so hard to relieve, maybe this would do the trick!
I’ve seen the Charging Valets other places as well as Brookstone – we need one of those. And the iGo Everywhere mobile power adaptor – that would be so great for trips – my husband packs an entire bag just for electronics and chargers, it’s just full of cords and plugs!

I would like the outdoor wireless speaker because we spend alot of time outside in spring, summer and fall so it would get alot of us!
n•a•p® Comfy Ultra-Plush Blanket with Sleeves looks great too. Means no more edges of blanket accidently falling into the loo during cold winter months. Now there’s a benefit for the whole family. My shoulders and back always in pain (and hubby constantly complains of his cramping hands trying to loosen my football shoulders). I often get rubbing blisters on the places he works on my knots on my back (he has those darn sweaty hands) so this wand would be a win-win in this house too!
