The Robertson Top from the Los Angeles Collection

Silk! Every time I get a new piece of silk clothing to add to my wardrobe, I feel like fashion royalty. There really is something indescribably luxurious about it and it just feels good on. But is it eco-friendly? Yes, those darling little worms weave out the threads that make some of the sturdiest and comfortable fabrics, but here’s something I learned from today’s featured eco-fashion company, Doie: Silk is completely biodegradable, whereas many synthetic fabrics take over 500 years to decompose! Well! Let’s do our part for the environment and talk Doie, then, shall we?

Doie Designs is founded by Sara Kirsner, who named the company after her fashion-conscious grandmother. Kirsner’s focus is to create fashionable clothing that is also eco-friendly. She chooses all-natural fabrics such as bamboo, organic cotton, and silk in the design of her garments. Today’s little beauty is the Robertson Top.

The Robertson Top is made of 95% silk and is wonderfully comfortable. It comes in two patterns; dark blossoms or light blossoms. Mine is the dark, as shown in the photo to the left, and I love the fact that I’ll be able to take advantage of its versatility and pair it up with a cardigan for fall. Or wear it with a skirt, or even my jeans! I always love clothing that looks expensive and high maintenance but feels as comfortable as my favorite t-shirts. That’s what the Robertson Top has going for it: comfortable elegance.
