Whether you’re a baking whiz or an herb enthusiast like myself, you’ll understand the importance of having a good kitchen scale at your side. Weighing out ingredients, measuring herbal amounts for a tincture, even checking on proper postage is all made a lot easier with the right scale. I’d been looking around at scales for quite sometime, but the EatSmart Precision Procaught my eye for a few reasons. For one thing, it’s lightweight and doesn’t take up precious kitchen space. For another, it’s simple to use. Just a few necessary buttons, no over-the-top bells and whistles I’d never use. And most importantly, the price is right. At only $25 on Amazon ($44.95 suggested retail), it’s a completely affordable solution.
I’ve been using my EatSmart Precision Promostly for herb purposes. After I’ve been out wildcrafting and have brought back a nice bundle of motherwort or perhaps some yarrow, I want to make sure my calculations are accurate before I prepare a tincture. I can put a bowl on this scale, zero it out, and get an accurate digital reading. Since the scale can handle up to 11 pounds, I don’t have to get too concerned about what bowl I choose either. Pretty important stuff when you’re talking about weighing heavier stuff like roots (or baking ingredients like sugar and flour).
Overall the scale has been just the right solution for my needs. I’m happy that it’s so easy to use, and that I don’t have to commit a chunk of counter space to it. When I’m done I just set it up on a shelf until next time. A must-have for herbalist and cook alike!
