For a long time I had a plastic set of salad tongs in my kitchen. I didn’t like that they were plastic, but I was unable to find a decent replacement. When they broke, I kept using the things. But I’ve finally been able to replace them with something decent: Bambu tongs sent from Free Market Organics. The tongs are made of 100% organic bamboo and will last me a lifetime. I remember when I was growing up, my mother used to buy bamboo utensils from the local Asian food store. Of course, way back then, we had not idea if they were made of organic bamboo, but she bought them because they lasted. She still has them! So I’m always happy to add bamboo cooking utensils to my kitchen.
The best part of the Bambu utensils is the store they come from: Free Market Organics. This is just the type of online store I love to recommend to you because they have a true sense of responsibility to their customers to make sure the products they carry are absolutely safe and chemical free. Take for instance the care they’ve put into choosing which stainless steel water bottles to carry. Amelia at Free Market Organics has been on a dedicated mission to figure out which ones are safer. It’s exactly the kind of nitty-gritty research I like to dig into around here. So whether you’re in the market for organic clothing or cute recycled notecards, Free Market Organics assures you get the very best chemical free solution.
So now you want my salad tongs, huh? Ain’t gonna happen. But I do have an extra one for a dkMommy Spot reader! Read on and learn how to get your own…

I really like the glass storage containers. I worry about what is leaching out of plastic any more.
I love the glass containers. They’re pretty and look like they would fit my needs really well. I’ve only got a few storage pieces after tossing out most plastic ware.
Thanks for hosting this.

They live green 80% of the time, and try not to worry about it the other 20%. They are doing better than I am; I’m maybe at 40/60 now, but working to get better.
I like their grow-a-note with flower pot. I like the facts that they are :
* 100% recycled
* this paper grows flowers!
* made in the usa by greenfield paper
I like the big stir wooden spoon!

I’m trying to phase plastic products out of our kitchen, but I haven’t found any storage containers yet that I felt were worth the cost. The glass food containers on this site look great. I love that there is a good variety of sizes.
I love the bambu gamby crumb board. Great idea! We used to use all wooden utensils in my house while I was growing up, but we suddenly switched to plastic and never converted back to wooden. Now is the time!

And I blogged about the contest too! =)

I love the cocoa kimono dress.
“The Big Stir” This would be perfect for mixing up Kool-Aide for the kids. Most spoons are not long enough and you end up getting your hands sticky and stained from the Kool-Aide so this is my favorite. I did try to find the Bamboo Tongs but couldn’t find them . Thanks

I love their bamboo bowls.
I suppose it’s the geeky side of me that loves to read a company’s mission statement and it’s no exception there. They definitely have a mission and a quite honorable one. It’s businesses like this that make it uber easy for the consumer to take the road to better living with organic goods.
I love their kitchen wares as well as the womens clothing of course. Organic t shirts are so cozy and comfy and when you wear them, it’s more than the fabric that feels good.

I love the “gangly” animals. They remind me of the old sock monkeys. Thanks for the great contest!
I really wish I had know about this site a couple years ago. I would have loved to have the stainless sippie cups and infant utinsels. I couldn’t find anything but plasic when I was shopping for my son. I also love all organic clothes. As for the glass containers they are great too.
Thanks
I was reading about the founder and was sad that she lost her mother to breast cancer. It was bittersweet to read that she found out she was pregnant the day after her mom’s funeral. That actually made me tear up. I also read that chemicals in plastic can mimic hormones. That’s crazy!
COOL
The eco chino pants in brown! 34-35 inch inseam! YES!
I love the give it a rest” cooking utensils and the serving bowls and dishes Great store
I love the Angel Baby Organic Lotion. Vanilla and Calendula? YAY!
What resonated with me the most was the statement on their home page: “Free Market Organics exists so that we find what we NEED without compromising the good health of our loved ones, our environment and the producers of our goods.”
I doesn’t get much more powerful or self-explanatory than that. That is the kind of company I respect. And I LOVE that it said “what we NEED” and not what we want. That’s a big part of the key to going green.

I love the kids’ clothes, but besides that I found the whole convo about Sigg/Kleen Kanteen interesting and alarming. As someone that owns Sigg bottles, which sort of is a splurge for a family of 5, my gut wants to now replace them. But then another part of me would love to know more about relative risks; do I do the best good with my money and replace them, or risk-wise, is there something else in my home that I can do with that money which is better spent (buy even more organic food, a new toothpaste, organic sheets, an air filter…a big glass bubble for us to live in….) It can get overwhelming and stressful.
My son really loves dogs, so the dog fair trade hand puppet would be a nice toy for him to enjoy.
They have so many cool items. I fell in love with the organic dreaming pup hugo. He looks very well made. Thanks for the contest and the info on the great site!
I agree about the glass containers. I like would like to get some.

My son is really into puppets right now so I’d say my favorite is the fair trade hand puppets
What a great site! My tongs are broken too and I still use them.
I really like their stainless steel water bottles! One of the changes we’ve made this year is to stop buying bottled water and use reusable bottles instead.

I agree with several of the previous posts about the glass containers and would definitely like to have a couple more. I already two and use them quite often. For reheating in the microwave they are wonderful.
The info on Sigg bottles was very interesting–especially since I just invested in one for each of us! I may be reconsidering now. I really respect someone who will put that much time into researching something not readily attained.
I love the glass storage containers, I am trying to stop using plastic, but it is hard to switch everything.
