Thanks for all the wonderful recipes! The Gimme Recipes! Contest is officially closed for entry, but feel free to continue sending your recipes and I’ll post the ones that meet the below guidelines. If you have a blog or website, send a link to it as well, and I’ll be sure to post it with your recipe.
The winner was the Quick, Cheap, Delicious, and Healthy Couscous sent in by Nancy of North Carolina. We’ve been eating it regularly around here!
To submit a recipe to the dkMommy Spot:
- Recipes must contain no processed foods and must be healthy! Processed = refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, boxes of premade items. I don’t mind one or two spoons of sugar when absolutely necessary, but your chances of winning are better without.
- They can be dessert, main course, side dish–you name it!
- They must contain no meat or very little meat.
- They need to be made as inexpensively as possible, so, your Aunt Emma’s Saffron Salad recipe is probably out. Remember, we’re helping each other cut back on that grocery bill. ($8.99 for lemons–for heaven’s sake.)
- They need to be pretty easy to make. Either 30 minutes or less, or something that takes very little babysitting at the stove. (For instance, I find bean dishes to be very easy. But cooking time is slow. As long as I don’t have to stand over the stove the whole time, great!)
- If you sent me a recipe but didn’t find it listed within 2 - 3 days, try again! I’ll only be listing recipes that follow the above guidelines, so read them over carefully. I know you have some good ones, so share all you can!
Email me your recipe to themommyspot(at)gmail(dot)com. I’ll post the recipes as soon as I can, and I’ll put links to them all on this page so we can all peruse them at our leisure.
