Congrats to Paul of California! He won the HimalaSalt Giveaway. Enjoy it, Paul!
I thoroughly enjoy cooking. There’s something therapeutic about the process now that I cook with as many natural, organic foods as I can. Picking out the right ingredients, searching for the freshest items and the best recipes are all part of the fun for me, right down to the spices. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, everything you add to the recipe makes a difference, either for the good or for the bad–right down to the salt. This most basic ingredient probably gets looked over more than any other one. After all, it’s just salt, right? If you say that, you’ve probably never had the pleasure of experiencing a good, high-quality salt.
HimalaSalt is pink sea salt from the Himalayas. It’s 250 million years old and is more pure than any other salt. In fact, the mineral content (that’s what makes it a beautiful pink) actually restores the alkaline balance in our bodies, a balance very similar to that of the ocean. This is what made it so exciting for me to try. There’s something very “back-to-the-earth” about taking that first taste because you realize just how long this salt has been in preparation and how pure it really is. I have tasted good salts before, and it’s eye opening to find out there’s such a difference. But this? This is seriously good stuff.
You know how impressive I find some companies due to their high ethical and quality standard. Sustainable Sourcing, the company behind HimalaSalt, is just this sort of company. Here is a little about who they are:
HimalaSalt™ is the Purest Salt on Earth™. While there are many pink Himalayan sea salts on the market, HimalaSalt™is the only Ethically Sourced, Artisan Made Himalayan Pink Sea Salt that is Kosher Certified, Green-e Certified (made by 100% renewable wind and solar energy), sustainably packaged, with 5% of profits going to the environment and back to the source community.
Impressed? I sure am! And Sustainable Sourcing wants to give one of you the chance to try their product for free. I have a daughter with various allergies, so I was interested to know that table salt can contain some allergens. I would definatly try this!
I think I love everything about this. I love that it’s beautiful, natural, healthy (it helps sustain a healthy acid-alkaline balance) and sustainable. That is what, in my opinion, all food products should be! I’d love to try it!
“Iodized table salt contains dextrose derived from corn, one of the most common allergens.” I have been having horrible allergic reactions, I wonder if the salt is to blame! I’ll have to check that out! – i am soooo impressed by sustainable sourcing! businesses with so much integrity definitely deserve the good press!

Here’s what I learned (shocking!) at the website: “Common Table Salt is an industrial by-product, stripped by chemical processing of all elements except sodium and chloride – detrimental to health in isolated form.”
Very interesting! That’s quite a list of benefits to be gained by using these pure salts.
I’d love to try the Artisan Carved HimalaSalt Zen Cube with Grater …so interesting. I’ve never heard of grating salt, but it sounds very fun and unique!
I’d like to try the peppercorns
There are Pink Peppercorns from Brazil that are sweet and zesty…not words I associate with peppercorns.
Great giveaway! Count me in. bebemiqui82(at)yahoo(dot)com

You are right, there is a lot to learn on their website! I like the fact that they are offsetting 100% of their operations and wind and solar energy. I was also amazed at all the benefits of the salt (like easing cramps!) – we are always told salt is bad, but apparently it’s dependent on what type of salt you are using.
I’m also subscribed and linked back to your blog – thanks!
I would love to try the Organic Garlic HimalaSalt. I learned that Himalayan sea salts are good for you and for your pet!
Hi,
I learned the salt is sustainably sourced – makes me feel good.
i love himalayan salt – i have 2 plug in himalayan salt lamps and 1 himalayan salt tealight candle, i have also used himalayan salt while bathing but forgot all about ingesting it until i saw your contest…hmmm…right now i use organic sea salt but think i’ll get some himalayan salt for my food. i didn’t know that himalayan salt was revered by chinese alchemists since it has the power to enhance, transform, or neutralize all other elements. very cool! i also like the fact the himalsalt’s himalayan salt is all natural, unrefined with no additives…i think with all the junk that gets put into our bodies these days, easy adjustments like changing the salt we ingest is something simple we can do to make our lives a little bit healthier…i’m going to buy it for many reasons but first and foremost would be for mental clarity…yup need that for sure oh and anti-aging that would be a great benefit or how about ridding my body of acidic waste…oh dear i’m rambling…anyways, i’m looking forward to purchasing their products. thanks dkmommyspot for the heads up on this company.
I would love to try the purest salt in the world… in times like these where everything seems not to like it supposed to be

I love the fact that the HimalaSalt is allergen free! Also loved the ancient story of how it was discovered!
First of all, I never knew pink sea salt existed, and from their site, I learned that Alexander the Great discovered it while on conquests in the Himalayas.
I’m impressed at all the health benefits. It even ease cramps, constipation, digestive disorders! Wow – that’s some salt!
It would be great on grilled summer vegetables.
I didn’t even know pink salt existed.
One thing I learned is that it is crucial to maintain a healthy acid-alkaline balance, which supports health, vitality, and restores the body’s natural ability to heal. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I opened the Himalayan site and was immediately intrigued by the zen cubes. I have never seen salt that comes in a cube that you grate over your food. I would so love to have that. How exciting would it be when someone asks you to pass the salt and you hand over this beautiful carved zen salt cube.

I have a weakness for pepper mills, and now one for salt too! The colors are great!
At the site I learned about the absence of allergens in the salt–important to me since I have reactions to lots of foods.
pink salt ? Never new there was such a color for salt . Well, let’s shake things up a bit
! thanx.
Ugh! I never knew how nasty and un-natural regular table salt was! After visiting their site, I REALLY hope I win this, and I am going to make sure to only use more natural salt from now on!
wow I never realized just how bad table salt is for you!
I can’t wait to try this, please enter me
I didn’t know it was kosher. Enter me
The salt isn’t heat treated – I didn’t realize other salts were! It destroys the essential trace minerals in the salt. Thanks!
And I thought that salt was just salt, but according to their website: “Its power to heal has also been found in ancient Ayurvedic texts, and from being traded on the Silk Road, has been richly woven into culture, language, and healing across Asia.” Impressive!
I’m never big on salt but to some dishes, its much needed. Its good to know that they have salt that is no additives, unrefined and all natural. Definitly would love to try this salt and pepper.
I like that it is allergen-free, which is always an issue in our house. As a “lazy” cook, I rarely go for the fancier products, but I do often state on my blog that pepper and salt grinders are worth the extra effort!
