Congrats to Paul of California! He won the HimalaSalt Giveaway. Enjoy it, Paul!
I thoroughly enjoy cooking. There’s something therapeutic about the process now that I cook with as many natural, organic foods as I can. Picking out the right ingredients, searching for the freshest items and the best recipes are all part of the fun for me, right down to the spices. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, everything you add to the recipe makes a difference, either for the good or for the bad–right down to the salt. This most basic ingredient probably gets looked over more than any other one. After all, it’s just salt, right? If you say that, you’ve probably never had the pleasure of experiencing a good, high-quality salt.
HimalaSalt is pink sea salt from the Himalayas. It’s 250 million years old and is more pure than any other salt. In fact, the mineral content (that’s what makes it a beautiful pink) actually restores the alkaline balance in our bodies, a balance very similar to that of the ocean. This is what made it so exciting for me to try. There’s something very “back-to-the-earth” about taking that first taste because you realize just how long this salt has been in preparation and how pure it really is. I have tasted good salts before, and it’s eye opening to find out there’s such a difference. But this? This is seriously good stuff.
You know how impressive I find some companies due to their high ethical and quality standard. Sustainable Sourcing, the company behind HimalaSalt, is just this sort of company. Here is a little about who they are:
HimalaSalt™ is the Purest Salt on Earth™. While there are many pink Himalayan sea salts on the market, HimalaSalt™is the only Ethically Sourced, Artisan Made Himalayan Pink Sea Salt that is Kosher Certified, Green-e Certified (made by 100% renewable wind and solar energy), sustainably packaged, with 5% of profits going to the environment and back to the source community.
Impressed? I sure am! And Sustainable Sourcing wants to give one of you the chance to try their product for free. They’re giving away one Green Gift Kit, which includes their Organic Peppercorn & HimalaSalt Trio. All three are refillable grinders filled with the highest grade organic Himalayan pink sea salt, green peppercorns, and pink peppercorns. They’re beautiful grinders that will make a great finishing touch to a table set for your best recipes. If you want to skip the contest and buy yourself the set, it’s on sale now for $29.75, originally $35.

Nice Site: I learned that HimalaSalt™is perfect for people who want to include salt in their diet, but are aware of the health risks associated with refined table salt, and wary of sea salts from today’s polluted oceans.
This looks awesome! Thanks,

I love finishing salts but have never tried Himalasalts before. The zen cubes are really awesome I would love to get one of those. And I never knew iodized table salt contained dextrose as a filler which is derived from corn which is one of the most common allergens.
Would love to try out the Pink Salt!
I would love to get the HimalaSalt Organic Heirloom Pepper Grinder Set.

i love the fact that the salts actually have a history dating back to ancient times. the only thing i really knew about salt was that it makes food taste better. its nice to know that different types of salt exist and have been used for centuries for different reasons. i also love the fact that ya’ll donate a percentage of your profits back!!!
I would love to win!
Where do I begin? I really got a salt education! Three things that really pertained to me were: It sharpens vital brain functions, improves mental clarity. It is anti-aging; rids the body of acidic wastes that cause degeneration. It will ease cramps, constipation, digestive disorders.
It is very interesting, too, that it is good for your pets! I have always been taught to avoid giving salt to pets. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I always knew sea salt was good for you, but I really learned a lot more about it. I think the best thing it does is that it sharpens vital brain functions. We all could use some of that. Just think how smart we all could be. LOL. Thanks for the giveaway.
Organic Artisan Pink Peppercorn w/Refill Tins & HimalaSalt 0
I never knew how good this Himalays salt was for you. I would love to
try it.
would like to try the salt thanks.
i would love to try the Himala salt zen cube
I didn’t realize that a dextrose/corn base was added to most mainstream salts – very interesting for allergy-sufferers (is that a word?)
Good for pets? Neat!
HimalaSalt Sponsors Organic Endurathon! Which was a one man 260 mile marathon across Iowa. How Cool!
The salt has been protected from pollutants. Who knew?
I learned that you can grate blocks of salt – I would have guessed that it would be too hard to do that. I think I’d probably skin my knuckles if I tried, so I’m glad that grinders and pre-ground salt are also options.
I also learned that the climate can influence the taste of pepper. I’d never thought about that before, but it makes sense. I think I’ll be paying more attention to the flavour of my pepper now.
I didn’t realize that peppercorns from different countries have such varying colors and tastes. I’d like to try the rainbow peppercorn blend.
I had no idea how much processing went into regular table salt. Gross!
I learned that Alexander the Great discovered the Himalayan salt while on conquests in the Himalayas. Pretty cool!
I learned that salt can come in cubes, I never saw that before in my life!!!
I like their catch phrase. “Pure food to fuel your life!” Thanks for the contest. I hope I win those peppercorns.
WHAT A WONDERFUL PRIZE! I’D LOVE TO TRY THEM!
The Pink salt is Heavenly !
I learned that the containers (grinders and packaging) are 100% recyclable! What a great idea!
I have to say that the carved himalasalt zen cube really intrigued me! I’ve never seen anything like it before and would love to try it for sure! Thanks for the great giveaway!
I didn’t know that white peppercorns are the inner seed of the black pepper berry, from which the husks have been removed.
I had NO idea that some salts weren’t hypoallergenic. This is worrisome since I have family members with severe gluten-intolerances. I would feel awful if I messed up a celiac diet for someone by serving them/cooking with salts that were contaminated with gluten.
Thanks for an ever-eye opening blog!
It’s good to use this pink salt with Chocolate!!!
