You want to have your own personal Organic Herb Garden but you don’t have enough yard space. Or maybe you don’t have yard space at all as you live in an apartment? That’s not a problem, you can have your own indoor Organic Herb Garden as long as your place have windows.
The methods on how to build a personal Indoor Organic Herb Garden is similar to the methods on how to build an outdoor garden. The main difference is the plants will be planted in large pots. The majority of vegetable plants can be planted in pots. It’s important to know that different plants require different sizes of pots. Bigger mature plants needs bigger pots.
Also, you need to buy pots which were made specifically to grow plants. Often makeshift containers which aren’t designated for growing plants don’t have proper drainage.
And just like outdoor gardening, you need to have the right kind of fertilizer and soil before you start to grow your herbs. You could buy organic fertilizer and soil at garden center in your area. Organic fertilizer is applied to give additional nutrients for your herbs. That includes the herbs you plant indoor using pots. You can’t use regular garden soil for indoor gardening though. It contains bugs and weed seeds so it’s not an ideal choice to have for indoor setting.
If you opt to purchase your herbs, make sure that the herb plants you want to buy are in healthy condition and not the conventional ones. Organic herb plants which have been in contact with conventional plants aren’t considered organic anymore. The organic herb plants are compromised as they were in contact with plants which has been treated with chemical-based pesticides. There’s a big chance the chemical substance has been contracted to them. So be sure to grow only organic herb plants in your indoor organic herb garden. And if you want to buy organic herb seeds, be sure to buy them before their expiration date and look for their frost date also.
Give your herb plants some time to get used to their new locations by putting them in front of your sunny window. A day or two is enough. This will assist them to adapt to the new temperature as well as to prevent transplant shock. It’s ideal to place the herb pots near a window which faces south. Your herb plants should also be watered regularly, different plants have different water specifications.
If you want to grow beans, plant them in hanging pot and hang the pots near your window that gets evening or morning light. Hanging pots are the best containers for bean plants as their vines will creep over the side and down to the ground.
It’s not that hard to build yourself a personal Indoor Organic Herb Garden in your own place. All you need is to give it a little time and effort. Happy Gardening!
