How to Make Raw Food Brownies (or, for the less adventurous, “No Bake Brownies”)

Today, I thought we’d take on how to make raw food brownies. As the title says, we can call these no bake brownies, and I’d recommend you do that if you’re planning on serving them to guests who might otherwise think your eating habits are falling over onto the scary side. I must say that I’ve served these brownies plenty of times, even boldly declaring them to be “raw food,” and they got eaten, anyway. That, and I had to share the recipe. In fact, I’ve shared the recipe so many times that I thought to myself, “Why not just put it here on the blog and be done with it?” dates

This recipe is prepared in the food processor, and it’s very simple. Ready? Here are the ingredients:

1 cup Medjool dates (soaked and drained)

1/2 cup raw walnuts

1/2 cup raw almonds

8 Tbs. cacao powder (that’s raw cocoa – get the good stuff, like Navitas)cacao

4 Tbs. shredded raw coconut

2 Tbs. honey

First, process the nuts until they’re ground well. Then add the dates and pulse several times to mix. Add the rest of the ingredients and process. Test to see if the mixture sticks together well when you pinch some of it. (If it seems crumbly, you can add a few more dates.) Now press the mixture into a container. Cut and serve immediately or cover and refrigerate first.

That’s it! When, I ask you, have you ever been able to whip up a batch of brownies in five minutes? I daresay never. Now that you know how to make raw food brownies, I’d suggest learning to make a double batch; they’ll go fast!
