Ready for the next of the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival giveaways at dkMommy Spot? I thought so!
I have got to say I’ve found finding a truly natural shampoo to be a pain in the tookus. Not sure how you spell “tookus” but there it is – it’s darned tough. I have reviewed shampoos and conditioners here, and rest assured, they passed my strict standards before they made it. But many did not get this far. John Masters Organics is one company that passes my scrutinizing eye. Their ingredients list is about as natural as I think you can go for hair products, and one other big surprise – they work great.
Occasionally I’ll get all revved up to try a natural shampoo whose ingredients pass the muster only to discover my hair gets kind of – well, gross after using it for a week or so. Not the case with John Masters Organics. The Lavender Rosemary Shampoo manages to clean deeply without the use of laureth or laurel sulphates, items commonly used in mainstream shampoos to give you lots of suds (and a good dose of cancer causing chemicals). Some natural shampoos that don’t have lots of suds leave my hair oily after several uses because I have very thick hair. But John Masters is easily distributed throughout my thick and trying tresses. A very herbal smelling shampoo, I found the rosemary scent to be a pleasant morning pick-me-up. Finishing up with the Rosemary & Peppermint Detangler, a lightweight conditioner that didn’t weigh my hair down, I was very happy with the obviously shining result.
One new product of John Masters Organics? Shine On, a natural organic hair treatment made of sea kelp. In the past I’ve been subjected to hair shining treatments of a chemically nature by good-intentioned beauticians but always felt my hair looked more greasy than shiny. Shine On requires a small amount and doesn’t leave a filmy feeling to my hair. And it’s nice to know I’m improving my hair by using it, rather than causing it and myself harm.
If you’re going to give yourself the organic beauty treatment, hair care is an important place to start – what goes on your scalp is absorbed by your skin. I’d definitely recommend John Masters Organics as a good product to try. Overall the scent is pleasant and relaxing, and the results for me is shiny and manageable hair.
I’m happy to say John Masters Organics is giving away a set of hair care products to one dkMommy Spot reader. The winner will receive an 8-ounce bottle of Lavender Rosemary Shampoo (for normal hair), an 8-ounce bottle of Rosemary & Peppermint Detangler, and a 4-ounce jar of Shine On.
