Let’s flash back about 3 years ago.  I was pregnant with my son and I wasn’t the little Miss Greeny-Pants you now see before you.  No,  I was a freaked out and confused soon-to-be mom who didn’t have a clue how to raise her expected child as naturally as I truly desired.  I knew I’d nurse my baby, but in my entire life I had only seen one woman breastfeed in public.  After delivering, most of the nurses attending to me knew nothing about the process and admitted they didn’t know how to help me.  From the very beginning, every natural decision we made in the raising of our son was a struggle.  If only I  had known about a certain magazine called Mothering.

This past month I have had the pleasure of perusing a stack of Mothering magazines and what I have discovered within each issue is a community of support and information for women with children of all ages.  Every month brings articles on choosing natural toys, breastfeeding, organic cooking, and even that herbal wisdom I love so much.  There are entertaining editorials from women all in the same “natural parenting” camp that will make any of us greeny moms find a sisterhood in motherhood.

Sure, maybe in some parts of the country it’s socially acceptable to strap your child on your back with a tie-dye baby wrap or to send your kids to school with a bamboo lunchbox filled with vegan delights, but in my conservative northern neck of the woods a little support for this “odd, fringe-like behavior” is most appreciated!  I’m most certain I’m not the only one who has felt on the outs at times with my all-natural parenting approach.  Can I see a show of hands please?  So I’m most happy to tell you that the people of Mothering are giving one of you a subscription to this wonderful publication!  Read on for details…
