Congrats to the Domestic Spaz – You’ve won!
I’ve discussed SIDS on this site before and how important it is to have truly healthy bedding. For several years, countries outside of the U.S. (all over Europe, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) have promoted safe, chemical-free baby bedding as being the surest way to avoid losing babies to SIDS. So why isn’t it promoted here? The possibilities are too numerous to list today, but fortunately we do have places to go to find proper, safe bedding for our smallest family members. Naturally Good not only sells organic cotton and wool bedding for everyone, but they are having a dkMommy Spot giveaway here: One full set of organic cradle bedding for one of you.
Naturally Good sells lots of chemical-free items, which we really like around here, and their baby bedding selection is most impressive. Some of the common bedding chemicals Naturally Good avoids are: formaldehyde, arsenic, pesticide residue, and flame retardants (known to mix with a baby’s fluid, producing toxic fumes). In the place of all those chemicals is a peace of mind every parent wants when their newborn is sleeping.
What’s included in today’s giveaway? Glad you asked! One organic wool puddle pad for the cradle ($33 retail), one organic cotton pad for the cradle ($33 retail), and one organic natural sateen sheet for the cradle ($20 retail). That’s $86 worth of natural, organic baby cradle bedding. If you aren’t expecting a newborn, these would make the perfect baby shower gift. If someone would have given me this as a shower gift, I think I would have flipped right over my own greenie self.
3 Ways to Win:

I like that they did research on how to provide safe bedding for babies! One less thing for parents to be worrying about! I also love that they stock natural organic products!!
What’s better than cotton?

Ugh, I had no idea mattresses could be the cause of SIDS. Nerve gasses, no wonder! That’s scary. Thanks for the link.
Wow, having a son who is allergic to many, MANY foods, and environmental allergens AND ASTHMA! It was hard reading this:
These mattresses outgas over the years and emit potentially toxic substances that you absorb into your skin and lungs which may cause allergic reactions and a many other very serious health problems. Sleep problems, headaches, and asthma to name just a few.

It is scary. I have always been concerned about SIDS. Thanks for the chance.
I really enjoy the philosophy of ….Body, Mind and Soul…..
I’m going to try their suggestion of on wakening, to stretch and take a minute to give myself some positive affirmations!
I understand the effects of “emotional pain leading to physical pain” or somotization as I am the Queen of Somotization……unfortunately.
What a wonderful site, with great philosophy and quality products.
Wow… I learned a ton about SIDS over there. I’m done having babies, but my best friend is due in December and I’d love to win this for her.
I blogged about it for you, too! http://slackermomof3.blogspot.com/2008/07/giveaway-extravaganza.html

I had no idea that the mattress & bedding was so toxic. Scary! I want the best for my baby (due in October) and I will definatly think more about what I buy from now on. I guess I just got used to buying “whatever is cheapest”. You can’t put a price on your child’s health….. thanks for offering this !! lisae819(at)yahoo(dot)com
perfect for a new baby
i would love this
I love chemical free products for my child and baby on the way.
What an excellent idea! Thanks for this great prize and all the superior contests~
I like chemical free products. That is very important to have. I am also a subscriber.
I learned a lot about SIDS. Scary. O my God. Poor babies.
I learned that mattress can be very toxic.
We owe it to our children to give them the best possible start in life… and organic is definitely a way to do that… besides the importance of quality sleep, the amount of allergens in thier bedding can contribute to illness… most of us can’t afford to purchase items like this these days…. but when it comes right down to it.. can we really afford NOT to?! What a great giveaway!
wow how sweet i love to try and win this for my little one it would help out a lot thanks
jennifer bowens last blog post..going back to wioh boy what a joy
I learned that parabens are preservatives, which I didn’t know. And there is a possibitity that they can change your hormone levels, which is a bad thing!
Gotta love natural organic products, especially when it comes to bedding. Nothing’s worse than your skin getting irritaed by artificial products!
chemical free products!!!
I suffer from allergies, and with our first baby on the way, I would love the opportunity to try anything that can help her with possible allergy problems.
As one of their articles states, It really is up to each of us to decide….is it worth the risk to use food and items that contain chemicals that could cause health problems or change to organic products even if they cost more.
I like the organic pet beds. Wow they were out of stock of alot of products or didnt carry them anymore. The site was also kind of hard to navigate. Thanks for the giveaway though~!

I love that they carry an organic pet bed! I’m a pet sitter and have so many stories. I used to take care of a lovely Basenji mix who had terrible skin problems. She underwent test after test trying to detect an allergy. Turns out her bedding had a treatment to keep it from getting smelly and THAT is what caused this poor dog’s rashes and alopecia. Her mom made a bed for her from organic fabric and that’s all she needed!
My son has severe allergic to dust..this would be so helpful!
organic pet bed would be great oour new puppy
I had no idea the risks associated with reusing crib mattresses. How scary!!! Thanks for the information and the giveaway.
Definately something I could use! Thanks for the great giveaway:)

What a terrific website! I did not know that boy babies are at higher risk for SIDS. Thanks for another great giveaway

I adore the Organic Sheets and Pillowcases. Thanks- Cindi
i really like your cotton baby pant and tee set.
I learned that lead wicks in candles can cause lead poisoning. I also learned that SIDS was rare before 1950 because harmful chemicals were not added to mattresses. It was interesting to read the articles.
I’d love to win this and give as a baby shower gift.
This is really good information to have. I was not aware of all the harmful chemicals. It is pretty sad that it has been that way. I’m glad that the world is becoming a more conscious place and people are getting back to the basics.

After losing a brother to SIDS, I’m a little paranoid with my kids in those first few months. It’s good to know more information about it.
The information on how toxic crib mattresses are…such valuable information.
I was really interested in all the articles but the one that stood out for me as of right now is “Are the Parabens in our Personal Care Products Really Harmful?” because I use lotions as a daily routine… even for my son Gabriel (Johnson & Johnson) its great to know that now there are Organic and safe options! The Love your Body Cream sounds really great too!

Thanks for a great giveaway, I’d love to win.
I sure wish manufacturers would pay attention to research and provide our babies with safe cribs and bedding! We’re all willing to pay a little more to protect our kids.
These items sound neet and I could use a new mattress pad
chemical free products are good
Lots of good info on SIDS and prevention measures. Guaranteed that we will be passing this info along.
