Congrats to the Domestic Spaz – You’ve won!
I’ve discussed SIDS on this site before and how important it is to have truly healthy bedding. For several years, countries outside of the U.S. (all over Europe, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) have promoted safe, chemical-free baby bedding as being the surest way to avoid losing babies to SIDS. So why isn’t it promoted here? The possibilities are too numerous to list today, but fortunately we do have places to go to find proper, safe bedding for our smallest family members. Naturally Good not only sells organic cotton and wool bedding for everyone, but they are having a dkMommy Spot giveaway here: One full set of organic cradle bedding for one of you.
Naturally Good sells lots of chemical-free items, which we really like around here, and their baby bedding selection is most impressive. Some of the common bedding chemicals Naturally Good avoids are: formaldehyde, arsenic, pesticide residue, and flame retardants (known to mix with a baby’s fluid, producing toxic fumes). In the place of all those chemicals is a peace of mind every parent wants when their newborn is sleeping.
What’s included in today’s giveaway? Glad you asked! One organic wool puddle pad for the cradle ($33 retail), one organic cotton pad for the cradle ($33 retail), and one organic natural sateen sheet for the cradle ($20 retail). That’s $86 worth of natural, organic baby cradle bedding. If you aren’t expecting a newborn, these would make the perfect baby shower gift. If someone would have given me this as a shower gift, I think I would have flipped right over my own greenie self.
3 Ways to Win:

i’;m getting more in to paying attention to what’s going on around us
I was so ignorant about this condition, I didn’t know there was so much you could do to prevent it. Right down to how you clean the mattress pad. Every little detail counts.
With all the problems with lead in toys and small parts, it’s nice to see that these bedding materials are organic and pure!
I love the entry about pets and incorporating organic products into caring for them in order to have a healthier family overall.
it’s amazing how much you have to worry about – it was interesting learning about the causes of SIDS
I learned a lot about pets!
Wow, interesting article. I’ve saved it for my sister who is expecting in Jan (and who this would be for if I win) I always co-slept with my babies but this is great info for any parents expecting a new baby!
Didn’t know much about parabens before this, scary stuff.
I have always thought it was important to have healthy bedding too, but the article really backed up that argument and put a lot into perspective. Anything I can do to help prevent SIDS is a good move.

It’s amazing to think that the mattress we sleep on every night could be making us sick.

I was stunned to hear that nerve gases were found in every tested mattress. That’s absolutely frightening. I had no idea. None. Thank you for helping create awareness.
Learned at SIDS. Thanks for the link.
wow! im glad to see a site so geared towards natural and healthy products and issues. I never would have thought a mattress could make you sick. Now I know! Thanks for the link and the contest opportuniy!
I learned that most candle wicks contain high levels of lead. That really scares me. The fact that when the burnt wicks are blown on, lead dust is spread around the house. What about birthday candle wicks? Do they contain lead? If so, then we are blowing lead dust on our birthday cakes. Really scary. I must look into this further. I’m glad this was brought to my attention.
Knowing that they have organic bedding would make me feel like I have my child sleeping in some of the safest products available.
Love the organic pet beds !
I learned about SIDS.
interesting- boy babies are at higher risk for SIDS
I did not know that the chemicals in the mattresses can make babies sick because it could be absorbed into the skin and lungs. My five month old has had an unexplained hacking cough every night. I wonder if its his mattress- I guess it’s time to get some organic mattresses and bedding.
My dog would like the pet bed!
Wow! I didn’t know that my matress was made with formaldehyde. Ugh! I could really use this matress pad.

I would like to thank you for introducting me to organic bedding. I had never seen this before today! This is a great for helping protect my son!
Chemical free and natural organic products—this is the site. Love it.
I love that they also have organic products for pets too!
Well I’m fired up now. With all that research about SIDS and the connection to harmful chemicals in matresses you would think there would be some sort or regulation put on them. I would also think that the public would be more aware of the threat. I had never heard any of this before but am glad I know about it now. I knew organic was better but had no idea how much better it was when it comes to bedding.
Amazing I had no idea that bedding could be so toxic. Thanks for the giveaway
GREAT GIVEAWAY!
The information relating mattresses to SIDS was startling to me.

I learned that Apple Cider Vinegar and Flaxseed can boost metabolism and help me lose weight.
a good mattress is a good thing
I wonder if the new modern mattresses are the main cause of sids? That would explain why if a baby is sleeping on his/her stomach it would have increased risk. Their face would be closer to the nerve gas. Scary and sad.

I did not know that there was a correlation between gases and SIDS. WOW, something new to worry about!!
I found it really interesting that baby boys are more likely for SIDS because of their higher metabolic heart rate. I had no idea! I am really interested in safe bedding for my family
I’ve got a baby due in November, so this set would be perfect for me. In checking out the site, I saw some interesting information on SIDS… I’d never heard of the whole ‘nerve gas’ aspect, so I’ll have to do a little research and see what I find.
I had no idea that research done over the past 13 years in Great Britain and New Zealand indicates that Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is an environmental poisoning in the crib.
I had no idea how many toxic chemicals children can be exposed to! All the more reason to go all-natural and organic!
I like the organic pillow cases! No more allergies!
I like the idea of the Organic Pet Bed made out of recycled rubber. We were just wondering if they made something like this for our dog!
