You should always monitor your plants and look for damage on your plants, especially at the early stage, and figure out the cause of the damage afterwards. If you find many holes on the leaves, turn the leaves over and search for signs of larvae. In most cases, the culprit insects that made the damage have been long gone by the time you found the damage. It is recommended to regularly check your plants (you don’t have to wait for any signs of damage to happen), so that you can get rid off the eggs early before they hatch.
