RARE2B Skin Care Travel Kit Giveaway
Click here for Natural Beauty Week Giveaways and more!
RARE2B certainly is a one-of-a-kind company. Winner of the VEGNEWS Best of Show 2008 Award for Best New Vegetarian Product, this company produces a whole line of all-natural, organic, vegan, and totally chemical-free skin care products. I’ve been trying out some of their items, and I could tell at once they were pure. You don’t have any heavy scents here. Just clean and natural.
I think my favorite item has been the Detox Facial Mask. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of putting mud on my face. It’s rather ironic - the stuff our parents begged us not to play in is actually good for the skin! RARE2B’s Detox Facial Mask is smooth and non-drying. The clay is Amazon River White Clay and full of benefits for the skin. It’s pretty fun reading RARE2B’s ingredient lists. Scanning through different products, you’ll find lots of natural oils, extracts, algaes, and plants you may never have known can benefit your skin. And they’re all organic.
If you’re looking for a natural way to give your skin a boost, here’s your chance. RARE2B is giving away one of their Travel Kits ($50 retail) to one dkMommy Spot reader. The kit includes: One Natural Detox Facial Mask (1 oz.), one Hydrating Day Cream (1 oz.), one Restorative Night Cream (1 oz.) and one Natural Body Lotion (1 oz.) It’s wrapped up beautifully and eco-friendly. Want to win? I thought so!

I love that the lotion has marine (seaweed?) and botanical (flowers?) elements, and that it is 100% vegan…that means that they put a lot of work into creating it, because it takes a very long time to find suitable non-animal derived sources…

I love that Rare2B truly uses natural, healthy ingredients. I used to work for Melaleuca, a company that makes this claim as well. I quit when a mom-friend of mine pointed out to me that their hand sanitizer had the same ingredients that had made the news for making children drunk. Doesn’t exactly boost confidence, huh? I’ve been looking for a new natural brand of body care. Thanks!

I love that these products don’t contain harmful chemicals and that they are vegan too, so you know that no animal has come to harm for me to look better (which is horribly superficial)

Most of us have gotten a lot better about reading food labels and trying to avoid chemicals and preservatives in what we put into our bodies. I know I’m still continuing to become educated about what I put on my body as well. RARE2B provides a lot of good information about the differences between artificial and natural ingredients.
For instance: would you rather your product contained Propylene Glycol, Ethylene/Diethylene Glycol; PEG compounds; Glyceryl Coconate, Hydroxystearate, Myristate, Oleate or natural humectants such as Lecithin; Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5); and Glycerin? (You can tell just by the names which would be better for your skin.)

August 29th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
I love the natural ingredients. We use so many things today that are harmful but we don’t really have a way to tell just how much damage all this stuff will cause later on.
August 29th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
love the 100% vegan products
August 30th, 2008 at 12:32 am
The rich botanical ingredients in this extraordinary mask draw out impurities, cleanse, exfoliate, nourish, and regenerate skin. Its texture is smooth and non-chalky. Suitable for all skin types.<-I learned face masks didn’t have to be chalky, because I haven’t met one yet that wasn’t!
August 30th, 2008 at 12:40 am
Thank goodness they don’t use parabens and alcohol in their products! I avoid those two ingredients like the plague because they are so bad for my skin. I like that they are vegan and I can’t believe they won the VegNews award. Way to go!

COMPLETE VEGAN SKIN CARE SET
August 30th, 2008 at 9:15 am
I know a lot of every day products contain chemicals. Its nice to be able to purchase products that don’t contain any chemicals. The wild crafted aspect is very cool. I also only buy products not tested on animals as I have always thought it cruel and uncalled for. Its nice to see so many eco friendly companies popping up. Now we have many alternatives to chemical laden products. Thanks for the giveaway!

I love the fact that their products do not contain alcohol; it sucks the moisture right out of your skin…why they put this in most skin products, i.e. lotion, is beyond me.
August 30th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
I like the COMPLETE VEGAN SKIN CARE SET the best because I would be able to try a variety of the products all at once. I like the fact that they pay attention to the people of the rain forests as they buy the materials they use in making their products.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
They have a lot of information on their site, but when they say that their products are chemical free (a claim made many times, in many places on the website) I have to laugh. Everything is made of chemicals. You are, I am, organic olive oil is. I would be more inclined to buy from a company which made the appropriate distinctions: synthetic/man-made vs. naturally occurring, and, for the later, how much processing is needed.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:56 pm

I appreciate the trouble they go through to source all of their ingredients…”certified organic by Eco-Cert, approved by the Fair Trade Foundation, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council with USDA Organic Certification and certified Kosher by the Federation of Synagogues”, and it’s really nice to support a family operated business! I’m most interested in their Detox Mask, it sounds like the kind of care that my face is really due for! Thank you, another great company!

I’ve always been a fan of natural beauty products. The ingredients in Rare2B are very reassuring, not intimidating chemical names as we are used to seeing on cosmetics.
August 30th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
I read a whole lot, and learned a lot of new things. RARE2B seems to be sincerely concerned and knowledgeable, at all stages, from selecting ingredients, free trade, animal free testing, safety, and educating the consumer. One of the most interesting things I learned is that their Hydrating Day Cream does not contain SPF, because they use safe, natural marine elements instead, (algae and seaweed), which are chemical free and have the additional benefit of not clogging the pores. Like I said, so much to read and learn!

August 30th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
wow one thing that i learned was that 1.75oz of something can cost $62.00!
now if the volume of that is by lb ounces and not fluid ounces and a lb of pure gold is at $831.00 today and you divide that by 16 since there are 16oz in a lb. you get $51.93 an ounce-for gold so the price of this bottle of night face cream they sell is just a little cheaper than a little over an ounce of gold. wow. i didn’t know that.

Upon visiting the Rare2Be site, I learned that it’s not advisable to have the volume all the way up on your computer lest you be scared witless by nature sounds.
I also learned the term “wild-crafted.” Wild-crafted botanicals means they are harvested in their natural environment and collected by hand in an ecologically sustainable manner.

I like knowing for certain that the products used in making it are organic. I also learned how to determine if a product is really “Natural or Organic”. Mainly, read the l abels and look at the products used. To quote, “On any label, ingredients are listed in descending order of the quantity used in the product. One should look at the first third of the label for the emulsion and its natural and organic ingredients. As the body of the product, the emulsion sets the tone for other additives including the herbal extracts. In most other skin care products, this is also where its chemicals are listed. Some of the chemicals usually found in skin care products are stearyl and cetyl alcohol, dimethicone and TEA. These may be followed by a series of herb and plant extracts to make the product sound and look natural.”

Cruelty free is very important to me. I cannot think about animals being tested on for cosmetic purposes.
I read all labels and look for companies that are cruelty free.
Thank you!
