It’s never too early to get kids into the kitchen. When they’re very small, they may only stand on a stool and watch. As they get older, responsibilities grow; perhaps adding a few ingredients, cracking that first egg, licking the spoon. But eventually the teen years hit and they’re ready to break out on their own. “Not MY teen! He/she only enters the kitchen for eating – not cooking.” Well, perhaps that will change when they get their hands on Sam Stern’s latest cookbook “Get Cooking“.
Sam Stern is a world-famous young cook who may just change your teen’s perceptions of helping in the kitchen. This hip British guy with a rockstar persona has pulled together a fun and colorful cookbook which was inspired by the favorite foods of seven of his friends and his own favorites. He put together a section on each (things such as pasta, tomatoes, cheese, vegetables, and chocolate) and what results is a cookbook that you’ll find yourself borrowing when your teen isn’t using it.
I remember when I was a teenager that oftentimes there would be a product that was geared towards teens. Somehow it seemed that many fell short of understanding that age group. Perhaps the book or the item had a forced sense of attempting to relate; teenagers see right through that. But this is genuine – it has to be. No adult wrote this book in an attempt to “lure” your kid into the kitchen. It’s written by a regular guy with an extraordinary talent that he loves sharing with others. I’d say that’s an inspiring message for people of any age!
