If you think I only like herbs for medicinal purposes, I’ve got news for you!  I love to cook (tried our Recipes tab above?)  and when I cook, I always use herbs.  When I can, I use fresh herbs.  We usually buy large bunches of dill, parsley and cilantro but even when I cook a lot, I can’t get through the whole bunch before it starts turning south.  Sometimes I wash, pat dry, and bag up a fresh herb and put it in the freezer.  But it’s time consuming and I don’t go to all the additional trouble of chopping the herbs, removing the stems, and packaging them up.  Fortunately, there’s a wonderful French-based herb company called Darégal.

I have been cooking with Darégal a lot lately.  They offer a large variety of fresh frozen herbs, and they have been a real joy to cook with.  Let’s start with the shipping method.  The fresh frozen herbs arrive overnighted packed in a cooler with dry ice.  Each herb comes in a container that is easy open and close.  I lined mine up in the freezer right away, and I find they’re easy to grab when I’m in the middle of cooking.  The herbs are already cleaned and chopped, so I just open the container and sprinkle the amount needed.  The smaller boxes contain 1.76 oz. (50 grams) of herb, and to be honest I thought I’d go through things like dill and parsley rather quickly.  To my surprise, a lot fits in that box when stems etc. are removed, so I still have plenty of our favorites left, even after several recipes.

Darégal also offers a variety of fresh frozen herb mixes such as Italian Blend, Original Blend, and a fantastic Grilling Blend.  Those are a real timesaver and have made a difference in my own pasta sauces.  The Grilling Blend is wonderful even in the oven, sprinkled over your favorite meat or vegetable dish – this one was a quick family favorite!

My overall impression of Darégal is definitely favorable.  Their items are convenient, fresh and healthy, and absolutely delicious.  Darégal would love to give one of you the chance to try their product.  They are giving away four boxes of choice to one dkMommy Spot winner!  I’m positive you’ll be as impressed as I was.  So what are you waiting for?  Enter to win and bon appétit!

I’ve included a French Daregal video above for you to enjoy.  Un belle présentation! (Boy, I sure hope my French is correct – or I’ll have oeuf all over my face.)
