When we were little, my sister and I used to head outdoors in the early mornings and set up a blanket under a tree or in the sunshine in the warm grass.  We’d pack up our tea set and if we were good, my mother would fill the teapot with something yummy, making sure we had “teacakes” to enjoy as well.  We could spend all morning on the blanket feeding our dollies and enjoying our adult conversation over a steaming cup of Tang. What we would have given for a darling little tea set like this one sold at KangarooBoo!

What makes this darling tea set so unique?  It’s made of 100% recycled milk jugs and it’s pthalate and BPA-free. (This makes for a better brew, you know.)  Created by Green Toys, the tea set is made up of 17 pieces -a teapot with a lid, a sugar bowl with a lid, a creamer, 4 tea cups, 4 saucers and 4 teaspoons.  Hmm… sounds like my cup of tea!

Want to win one so you can enjoy a tea party with your little one?  KangarooBoo is kindly giving away a Recycled Plastic Tea Set, $24.99 retail (currently on sale for $19.99).

I Have a new crew of friends here, clinking, whirring, and flipping all over my dining room table. These amazing little windup critters from Kikkerland are not your average toys, no sir. These are fine specimens of educational play at its best. Imagine the inner workings of a windup clock, for example, marching across your kitchen floor. The clicks, the springs, sometimes sparks, always movement. The little fellows I speak of are Kikkerland windup toys filled with personality.

My husband and I spent a whole evening winding them all up and turning them loose. Each one is different, surprising its audience with a unique set of movements. Since they’re windup toys made mostly of their mechanical workings, we were able to get right in there and see what makes them tick. One feature that makes them so personable is the fact that you might get to tweak them every now and then for yourself. A little oil to the springs, a tightening, a little maintenance is always a good way to care for your critter. Can you imagine the lessons a child will learn by making an adjustment here and there, watching the results?

Most surprising to me is how endearing these little metal toys are. We’ve already got our favorites – one that makes us laugh a little harder than the others. These are toys to make you smile with a child’s joy – no matter your age.

Kikkerland is giving away a windup toy to three dkMommy Spot readers in honor of Bloggy Giveaways Carnival Week!

Congrats to Mannequin, winner of the Super Mega Fun Pack!  Happy sculpting!

Want some all-natural fun for your kids?  Better hurry!  Happy Fun Dough from For My Kids is here but it may not last long.  The Super Mega Fun Pack is a cotton drawstring bag filled to the brim with six 4-ounce tins of colorful Happy Fun Dough and a darling little rolling pin, perfect for getting young imaginations going.  Our Fun Dough has been turned into all sorts of unbelievable creatures, strange and colorful widgets, and things Dr. Seuss never even dreamed of.

Why do I say the Happy Fun Dough may not last long?  I’m sure you’ve heard by now about the new laws coming down the pike from the CPSIA.  These regulations will force great American small businesses, such as For My Kids, to pay very hefty fees in order to have their products tested for lead and other harmful ingredients in kid’s toys and products.  No, we don’t like lead at dkMommy Spot.  Yes, we want the safest of toys.  But so does For My Kids and others just like them!  That’s why they started their companies in the first place.  And while they’d be happy to have products tested, the costs these companies would have to pay would quickly put an end to great products like Happy Fun Dough.  How much would the Super Mega Fun Pack cost after testing? Hmm, about $4,000.  But fortunately you can get it now, before the laws go into effect, for a mere $29.99.  I’d say that’s quite a deal.

For My Kids is giving away one of these Super Mega Fun Packs to one of you in honor of Bloggy Giveaways Carnival Week!!

(Sign the petition and let our new president know we need these stores to be able to afford making great products like Happy Fun Dough!)

If you’re looking for all that makes a little boy’s eyes light up on Christmas morning, this Wooden Fire Engine made by Plan Toys will more than make those eyes sparkle.  Brought to us today by LivingPlaying, a fantastic online store focused on toys for creative play, this fire engine has been amusing my little boy for a few months already.  The day it arrived was something like an autumn Christmas morning!  You should have seen my son’s reaction to that big truck being pulled from the box.  (If you’ve never purchased a natural toy, you’re in for an easy out-of-the-box experience, moms and dads!  No loads of plastic twisties making your neck veins bulge.)  My son is 2 1/2, and for him, finding entertaining toys is a bit of a challenge.  He seems to lose interest a little too quickly for my taste.  But this Wooden Fire Engine keeps him entertained, and it’s definitely interactive!

When my husband arrived home the evening we received our Wooden Fire Engine from LivingPlaying, we were all three sitting around the floor for quite sometime, making noises, walking the little firemen around, rolling the truck and playing with the accessories.  It’s probably the most well-built toy my little guy owns, if not the most impressive looking.  If your kids find one of these Christmas morning, I daresay this fire engine will withstand several years of putting out imaginary fires and saving kittens from trees.  It may even light up the eyes of your kids’ kids someday!

4 Ways to Enter:
