“The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Raw” Cookbook Giveaway

Click Here for Giveaways, Coupon Codes and More!

Recently dkMommy Spot gave away a copy of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Vegan Cooking, and I was pretty impressed with the book.  So I was happy to check out The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Raw.  My family tries to incorporate a lot of raw foods into our diet, and while we do cook things around here, I certainly understand the great importance of eating raw.  But if you’re not familiar with raw foods, aside from a dinner salad, you probably don’t have a clue about where to start.

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Raw covers things very well if you’re interested in digging into the nitty-gritty.  But if you already know the basics and want to dive right into the recipe section, you can do that too.  That’s what’s so nice about the Complete Idiot’s series.  It’s easy to flip through their books and find exactly what you’re after without taking the time to read cover to cover.  Eating Raw will teach you how to sprout seeds successfully, make your own nut cheeses (these are quite good), make yogurt out of plants, and all sorts of things you may have never even thought of.  Whether you’re looking for a few good recipes to add to your dinner, or you want to totally make over your family’s eating habits, the information is in there.

I’m a recipe experimenter.  I love to try new ingredients, and I love to prepare my usual ingredients in unusual ways.  If you’re like me, or if you’re already way into raw foods and want some fresh ideas, you’re in the right place!  Enter here to win your own copy of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Raw.

I’m interested in Raw Foods – the only raw foods we eat are fruits and salad, but I’d love to know more.

  • Alicia Webster

Our family eats raw food all the time, probably more so than most families. But I have been hesitant to be creative in this area. I would really like to expand my idea of what foods can be successfully combined for tasty (and healthy) family meals, and this looks like the perfect book to help me.

I am trying to go raw with the whole family.
Not very familiar with this type of prep. So the book would help me to show that raw dosen’t have to be blend.

I am researching raw foods as well as going vegetarian. So I’d love this book to help me along. :) Thank you!

  • I don’t “cook” raw, if you know what I mean. My brother is really into it but I haven’t gone there yet. We do eat regular fruits and veggies. I had good intentions to start using the dehydrator but I never got around to it. :)
I would love to know more though! We are vegetarian my relatives probably think we are weird enough.

  • Lindsay V

I personally crave fresh fruits and vegetables. I don’t eat a lot of processed foods and try to eat as natural as possible. I haven’t gone “raw” just yet, but maybe I will if I win this book! I planted a garden this year for the first time EVER. I planted cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, asparagus, beans, romaine lettuce, onions, zucchini, and artichokes. Guess what I’ve reaped so far? NOTHING! My tomato plants grew but didn’t produce, my lettuce grew in but got some yucky bugs so I threw it out, and every other plant pretty much just shriveled up and died! I don’t know what I did wrong, but it was the saddest “garden” (or naked piece of land) I’d ever seen. Here’s to hoping next year’s crop turns out a little better!

  • I don’t eat raw and not really sure where to begin. I would love a bunch of recipe ideas to get me headed in the right direction.

I eat raw a little more then anyone else but not exactly to the extent of a diet! But I would prefer more, and a book on it would be GREAT! thanks for the chance!

We live off salads, one for breakfast, lunch and dinners. Our snacks are raw vegetables!!!!

  • Gaye McGill

We eat salads, fruits, and some veggies raw, but not often enough and not in enough variety. I’d love to know more and do more.

  • Elaine R

Other than salads we don’t eat any raw foods and yes I do find the thought of eating raw foods scary so I think I need this book!

  • We do eat raw foods. I make raw foods (see my raw chocolate pie: (http://www.lifeglutenfree.com/mama_baby_gluten_free/2008/09/chocolate-pie-with-a-seed-crust.html)

But I would definitely be interested to check out this book and learn more. Raw food is so nutritious and it is really amazing what you can do with raw foods. We also have a dehydrator and enjoy making raw corn chips, kale chips, etc!

  • joanmurraycefalu

We have not been eating too healthy, but since my husband was diagnoised with Diabetis, we have been trying. This would help :)

  • Jennifer Still

We have salads, fruit, some veggies and sashimi. Other than that, I don’t know of any other way to eat raw! I’m intrigued.

  • ruth

We eat raw since we stick to a healthy and balanced diet and raw is a big part of it. We eat salads, kale and a great deal of assorted veggies. thanks for this great giveaway.

  • susan t

Raw for us is fruit mainly. Ocassionally raw carrots and celery but that is about it. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • We eat a lot of raw items like salads, crudites, and fresh fruit. Certainly raw fresh foods are probably healthier and cheaper than the processed equivalents. I don’t “cook raw” yet. It would be interesting to learn more about the raw food option as well as to get some practical suggestions of its use in the real world.

  • Terry M

We eat raw foods like fruit and salads, would like some ideas from this book to help us! thanks—

  • Becca

Yes, we eat raw food regularly and if we eat something cooked we either have a raw accompaniment, or else juice some fruits and veggies to drink with the cook food.

  • Brian N.

  • Ellen Lopes

I eat raw fruits and vegetables of course, but the idea of eating raw fish freaks me out, and any time I have even attempted to eat it, I get really puke sick. My husband almost literally eats raw steak, I like it reddish pink and juicy, but not like him! He says it has more taste, vitamins and protein that way !!!!

  • tracey

i am a vegetarian and was thinking about going completely raw…just not sure about the variety of foods and flavors…the same salad everyday would bore me silly

  • Lisa L.

not much, but we need too :o )

  • crystal

I love to make juice out of raw fruits and veggies. A few family members are surprised to learn that their fruity tasting juice actually contains stuff like carrots and spinach.

  • ha! Perfect timing for this one :) I feel like we usually eat junk around the house but I am trying to get my family to eat healthier. Tonight we snacked on broccoli and black grapes for dinner. The kids loved it! Also, the less junk food there is around the house, the more interested they are in fresh fruits and veggies. Last night it was my littlest daughter’s birthday; As a treat we took everyone out to Red Robin for dinner. I substituted salad for fries and my middle daughter did the same and substituted carrots for fries! I was so proud.

MaryBeth Isaacs last blog post..I want this.

  • We eat lots of raw fruit, and some salad, oh & our milk is raw, does that count?) I haven’t ventured beyond that, but I’d love to! Maybe the cookbook would give me the motivation I need :)

When I am at my (dietary)best, I eat raw except for 1 or 2 cooked meals a week – and I don’t mean packaged raw snacks and nut rich foods, just a whole lot of raw veggies (and a few fruits), simple salads and freshly made green juices.

  • Cindi

I am a vegetarian, so raw vegetables are a staple of mine. Sometimes being a vegetarian can be confusing for me because of protein issues and recipes. Please enter me in your delightful drawing. I appreciate it. Thanks, Cindi

  • Kathy Scott

I am trying to get the whole family more healthy. I could use some help.

My daughter likes vegetables which is a great thing. We try to have lots of vegetables with our meals, but they aren’t always raw food. Fruits are great too.
