PhotobucketSo you’ve thought you’d like to try some vegan cooking, but what in heaven’s name do those people use in place of milk and eggs?  Or maybe you are a vegan already, and you want some new recipes to shake things up in the kitchen.  No matter your reason for searching out a vegan cookbook, The Complete Idiot’s Guide series has a book loaded with great vegan recipes that’s sure to get your culinary imagination humming.  It’s called The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Vegan Cooking

My family isn’t vegan; I guess you’d call us weekday vegetarians.  We eat a little meat on the weekends, and if there’s a special event we’ll often eat some then too.  But to be perfectly honest, we all feel much better without the meat.  So I’m always on the lookout for fresh new vegan and vegetarian recipes.  The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Vegan Cooking has been a real pleasure to use.  The recipes cover everything from soups to breads to main courses to a delicious selection of desserts.  I’ve been having a great time picking things out to cook, and my family is enjoying the recipe testing process.  The recipes are easy to follow, and as with all of The Complete Idiot’s Guide series, it’s filled with great tips and information that will only enhance the cooking and eating experience.  Another plus any cook can relate to:  The book stays open while you cook.  (Don’t you hate cookbooks that flop shut while you’re trying to read them?)

So if you’re ready to try baking an Orange Cranberry Loaf or Mushroom and Veggie Fajitas, or if your stomach’s been grumbling for some healthy desserts like Coconut-Almond Macaroons or Hot Fudge Pudding Cake, I’ve got great news!  You can enter to win a copy of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Vegan Cooking right here!

  • I have been trying to make at least 2-3 “meatless” meals a week. I would LOVE to learn more great recipes. The kids are getting bored wtih them already.

My daughter has been talking about wanting to be a Vegan for a while now, but I honestly don’t know what good healthy things I can make for her. This book could be a great start.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  • OOPS! I forgot to add that I already subscribe to your blog too.

i’m neither vegan nor vegetarian, and rarely make meatless meals, but i should make more (or some) this book would help

  • I sometimes eat vegetarian items in restaurants, but not usually at home unless its spaghetti and marinara. I would love to start cooking at least 1 vegetarian meal a week though. Its healthier, and better for the earth. Great giveaway, thanks!

  • Our family has been wanting to go at the very least vegetarian for awhile, but I really don’t know what to cook that will be both satisfying and healthy. :( It ends up being just a meal of side dishes really, so I think this will help us!

I would really like this for my brother.

I’ve made some very disastrous dishes – fortunately my vegan friends are smart enough to bring their own food. Oh well, I guess it’s the company that really counts and that’s fortunate for me.

  • Trish

I’ve made some soups with vegetable broth, that’s about my extent of vegan. Thanks for such a great giveaway!

  • sandra kao

i have no experience in vegetarian or vegan cooking.

I have a friend that is vegan, when ever she comes over to eat, I find myself researching for hours what i can or cannot cook with. I gues I really need The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Vegan Cooking by Beverly Lynn Bennett and Ray Sammartano.

  • I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I’ve recently started cooking a lot of vegetarian dishes for health reasons. I, do however, have many vegan and vegetarian friends, so if I won this cookbook I’d probably give it as a gift to one of them.

I’ve been vegan for a long time now and without even realizing it had fully immersed myself in ‘vegan cooking’–that’s not just removal of eggs and milk and all, but integration of seitan, nutritional yeast, the works. My fiancee is hugely supportive for a man who loves meat, but sometimes he just suspiciously eyes his dinner plate, trying to figure out how soy can look so….weird. This book would probably help bring us to a compromise, keeping the meals cruelty-free for me, but perhaps a little more natural looking for him.

I have 2 vegan pals and when I am with them, the foods we can eat always suprises me. – I tend to make basic vegetarian dishes like mac and cheese and soy instedad of meat for bologneses, but if I don’t use cheese, there is usually eggs involved. I would love to win the book to find out more. (I always buy vegan cookies at whole foods because they tase yum!)

  • rebecca

I’m a subscriber but am not sure if I need to tell you that.

  • Roberta

I try to be as healthy as I can and go meat free when possible – the research out there is overwhelming to minimise meat. I heat a lot of soups and make sandwiches (mainly cheese) a lot. BEWARE – I just found out that a well known brand of soup has MSG! – Would love to have a shot at winning the book as want to get healthy and know whats in my food as I am trying to conceive.
    thanks so much.

I had to start looking for vegan baking ideas when we found out my son was allergic to eggs… still fiddling with it, actually. Technically I *can* bake with dairy, but don’t usually.
One problem I’ve had with vegan meals is that I didn’t adopt the practice early enough, so my kids are VERY resistant to eating beans and soy – they’re 2 and 4 so at an age to be picky. Sigh. So I’m having some trouble with a rounded diet, and we haven’t cut out all non-vegan options yet for that reason.

  • Valerie Mitchell

I’m not vegan – but I incorporate vegan meals into our diet.

  • sahd david

I am a SAHD and would love to win this as I am trying my hand at cooking and would love to get on the healthier side of life. I am sad to say my cooking is basic to say the least but at least I try. I was a vegetarian in my youth, and I was at my leanest and fittest naturally then. my son tends to not love meat, which is good to see. But he does like a boiled egg.

    Great contest and thank you.

  • Go Amie

I make plenty of vegetarian meals (I don’t eat meat very much) but I am always lost when it comes time to make something for a potluck – I hate to bring something not everyone can eat! I’d love to get my hands on some really good vegan recipes!

  • Christine

I am a vegetarian and would love to know more vegan recipies!

  • My stepdaughter is a vegan, and she comes over often. We always eat together and with her help and great recipes, make some wonderful meals. Although we are not vegans, we do not eat much meat at all…mainly for health reasons…this book would be a wonderful win. THANKS

  • Rachel Fox

We don’t have any experience with Vegan cooking, although I would like to start. I’m a huge animal lover, and somtimes I get grossed out when I’m putting that piece of Chicken or Beef into my mouth, thinking of what those poor animals had to go through. Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great prize and to possible change my whole family’s way of life!

  • Patty

Thank you for having this contest. I really appreciate it.

  • Laura

Both my husband and I are vegetarian, and we would love this book! Vegetarian is not hard for me, but vegan cooking is a bit trickier. Here is one of my favorite veggie recipes, from cooking light: http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=630121

  • I used to be vegan..many years ago and was veg up until about 12th grade then again in my 20s.
I collect cookbooks so this looks yummy.

  • My sis-in law is vegetarian and we eat meatless sometimes. I lost much weight recently and discovered I could not eat a lot of meat without discomfort. I’d be very interested in trying this.

  • Linda Pinto

We make quite a few Indian vegtable recipes. The onions, garlic and spices make the dishes so tasty and interesting. They are not really difficult and are different.

  • I don’t do vegetarian cooking well…because I hate beans! I always look forward to recipes so I can eat less meat…hopefully this book won’t have BEAN recipes!!

  • I cook vegan meals every day. I was actually a vegetarian for a long time and within the past few years moved to a vegan diet. It’s actually been completely enlightening because there is so much food out there that is either naturally vegan, or can easily be made that way. I live in an area without a ton of options for restaurant dining, so I often prefer to cook because I can make exactly what I want.

I’ve helped a few people go vegan, and usually that means teaching a few really easy recipes that they can make in a pinch. I’ve even helped them figure out how to grocery shop.

I also love cookbooks. I enjoy learning other people’s recipes, and trying to figure out how to make them my own. This one looks awesome.
