Giveaway Closed – Congrats Kerri!

clip_image002My mother was a piano teacher.  We grew up listening to the 1812 Overture and assumed all kids did.  When as a 7-year-old I would tell my friends’ moms that Tchaikovsky was my favorite composer, they looked at me like I fell off mars.  I’m thankful for the appreciation I have of music, and that I can feel quite comfortable going to a symphony or discussing music with others.  I want my son to experience that too.  A great way to get little ones started is with the award-winning Stories and Music series from Maestro Classics.  Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra with original scores written by conductor and composer Stephen Simon, this delightful CD offers a unique narration of the classic story “The Tortoise and the Hare“.

I appreciate the format and the lengths that are taken to help expose kids to music with this CD.  It’s an enjoyable listen, not only for kids but for adults as well.  The music is fun and the narration is done wonderfully.  The CD even comes with a 24-page activity booklet that shows the instruments of the orchestra, which helped me show my son so many of the instruments I’ve told him about.  I’m finding this CD to be a great learning tool in helping my son understand how to listen to music.  I’ve long since tried to engage him by making up my own stories about what music means, and this takes it to a much more colorful, exciting level!
